Longarm Quilters' Challenge and Raffle Quilts

For the 2010 July Conference

       Challenge Quilt

To make a monochromatic quilt on the white through to black spectrum. You may choose to use a splash of color of your own choosing. The quilt should be 1.2 m square. The block design is nine patch to make an Irish chain. You will need to have 13 nine patch and 12 plain 7 inch blocks. With a 2 inch and then a 5 inch border.

The idea is for us all to create a quilt of the same design in the same colours but to quilt it how we would like.

                                           Raffle Quilt

The raffle quilt is a large extension on this design. We are asking that each quilter make a 9 ½ inch block (which will be 9 inches when finished in the quilt) in the white through black spectrum. It should have five dark and four light to create the Irish chain pattern. The absolute latest cut-off date for sending your block to Linda is the 30th of April 2010. We need to organise piecing and quilting and have time to sell some tickets before Conference. We intend for it to have a splash of colour but that will be decided when we piece it together. The charity we are going to support with the proceeds is yet to be decided.
