Simplified Adjustment Procedures for PRO, 2KN, IS98
Warming–up
PRO:
- Turn on machine
- Push and hold red Laser button
- Click black start button on right handle
- Process runs for 3 minutes beeping every 10 seconds. Interrupt anytime with start button
FunQuilter/IS-2KN/IS-98
- Warm machine up by running at constant speed for a few minutes
PRO/FunQuilter - Auto-adjustment
After warm-up, have thread anchored in selvedge area. Tension of thread is a factor:
- Turn off machine
- Hold in red single-stitch button and turn machine on (now in programming mode)
- Let go single-stitch button
- PRO - Put dial to B1; FQE – Move rear slide fully to your left
- Click red single-stitch button to start process
- Move machine as process continues (useful for basting) – avoids pile-up of stitches
- When complete, turn machine off then on again in normal mode
IS-98/IS-98 – Manual power increase/decrease
After warm-up, have thread anchored in selvedge area. Tension of thread is a factor:
- Turn off machine
- Hold in red single-stitch button and turn machine on (now in programming mode)
- Let go single-stitch button
- IS-2KN - Put dial to B1; IS-98 – Put dial to “12”
- Click red single-stitch button and observe motion and end position of take-up lever
- Let go single-stitch button
To Decrease activity and/or bring end-postion of take-up lever back to top quarter of slot:
- IS-2KN: turn Down light on (D for Down), IS-98: put slide to Reg (R for Reduce)
- To increase activity and/or promote end-postion of take-up lever to top quarter of slot, do the opposite – ie IS-2KN – down light off; IS-98 - slide to Free
- Push and hold red single-stitch button and click with black start button
- Beep indicates a new setting has happened. Let go single-stitch button
- Move the machine as process continues (useful for basting) – avoids pile-up of stitches
- Recycle instructions from coloured line down until desired result is achieved
- When complete, turn machine off then on again in normal mode – test performance.
Auto-adjust – no problem. Do it at start of day or whenever you’re starting a new quilt (senses resistance to needle – adjusts for conditions and/or work in hand. Especially do it if you’re getting needle over-run or for differing ambient temperatures.
Manual-adjust - may be best to alter things just one or two steps at a time before test-sewing. Just sneak up on settings that suit the present conditions. Should take only 10 seconds once you’ve got the hang of it and will make sewing more enjoyable for you.
